Our Faith

What We Believe About:

1. God & His Creation

There is but one true and living God, who is the creator and sustainer of all things, and revealed with the coming of Jesus as eternally existing in three persons within the unity of the Godhead: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

God, as his name 'Yahweh' ascribes, 'will be who he will be.' God's nature and character are known by his self-revelation, not by our predetermined categories of what God's 'godness' can and cannot be. In salvation history, God's character is revealed as perfect love and perfect holiness.

God is love: gracious, compassionate, abounding in mercy and grace, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion, and sin. God is also just: he will be no means acquit the guilty. These seemingly incompatible realities of God - his wrath and mercy - meet and are reconciled in Jesus Christ at the cross.

Creation exists for the glory of God. All things, whether visible or invisible, are made by God and sustained by God, for his good purposes, and nothing can escape his sovereign presence, power, knowledge, or purpose.

Both the fact of creation (its physical / spatial existence) and the outworking of creation (it’s ‘playing out’ through time / history) are included in God’s purpose of glory.

Glory is the display of a thing’s nature and character and the inherent worth of that nature and character. God’s glory, then, is the joyous and awe-filling revelation and manifestation of his nature and character in creation and salvation history.
